DT stand pulled the crowds at CeBIT

Mar 09, 2010

It was a successful showing all-round for Deutsche Telekom at CeBIT 2010: Well over half of all fair visitors came to the Deutsche Telekom stand. One highly positive aspect was that, despite the reduced exhibition space, there were around 2,000 more daily visitors to the stand than in the previous year.

"The trade show concept proved a resounding success," Antje Hundhausen, Head of Corporate Architecture & Experience Marketing, reports enthusiastically. "Visitors viewed our brand presence and the One Company concept as a highly positive experience. Many emphasized the attractive fair stand, with its many innovative product scenarios, as the main pull factor."

Well over half of all fair visitors came to the Deutsche Telekom stand at the CeBIT trade fair 2010.

Innovative, multimedia presentations and the light, open stand architecture with its inviting lounge area were other factors that drew over 38,000 people to the stand daily – a total of more than 190,000 during the entire event. Seen in relation to the duration of the fair, this translates into almost 2,000 more visitors each day than in the previous year. CeBIT ran for a reduced length of five days for the first time this year and attracted 334,000 visitors to Hanover - and over half of them visited the Deutsche Telekom stand.

Stand concept and innovative products thrill visitors
According to the results of the independent market researchers, visitors awarded top marks to the eye-catching Hoberman sphere exhibit and the multi-touch table in the business customers’ area. Here, the company succeeded in demonstrating the most complex of solutions via a hands-on experience. Likewise, the 3D film for the new DeutschlandLAN product attracted thousands of viewers each day. Eva Maria Schornberg and Marianna Rubione, who were responsible for this exhibit, even had to re-order an extra 2,500 3D glasses. In the consumer section, visitors were most impressed by Entertain and the Media Center. Many of them were thrilled above all by the service that gives them anywhere access to their data.

In addition, the fair stand concept with clearly marked areas including "Networks & Innovation" and "Internet" was instrumental in enabling the different customer groups (consumers, business and corporate customers) to find their way about. Customers' satisfaction was reflected in the grades they gave the stand personnel, who were given very good and good grades for friendliness, helpfulness and expertise.

VIP visitors
German Chancellor Angela Merkel paid her annual visit to the Deutsche Telekom stand again this year. Deutsche Telekom CEO René Obermann explained the aspects of smart metering and smart grid to the technically-interested chancellor. Another CeBIT highlight was the visit from Olympic gold medalists André Lange, Kevin Kuske and Tatjana Hüfner. The winners of the two-man bobsleigh and the luge disciplines described their experiences in Vancouver and stressed how important it was for them to have support from a sponsor like Deutsche Telekom. After that, they spent a long time signing autographs for fans. The Minister President of Lower Saxony, Christian Wulff, was another VIP to pay the company a visit: He downloaded a song at the Musicload stand.

Sustainability is trumps
There was no overlooking the stand's special "green" focus this year: A four-meter holm oak tree and a green wall of real plants represented sustainability. Besides this, use was again made of recycling materials, for example in the tall LED pillar at the center of the stand, which showed rolling images. The entire stand was run on a totally climate-neutral basis as, incidentally, are all Deutsche Telekom's big events.
