Universum Student Survey 2010 results showed that Telekom belongs among top 20 most attractive employers.
The survey aims to find out about the future aspirations of young talent. This is the ninth year running that Universum Communications has been sounding out university students: "Which company would you most prefer to work for after university?" From a field of some 130 employers, more than 20,000 students on economics/business administration, engineering and natural science degrees as well as from computer science faculties at 106 universities cast their vote. Among the computer scientists Deutsche Telekom ranked 19 – moving up 15 places compared with last year.

Deutsche Telekom made its way into the top 20 most attractive employers as part of the Universum Student Survey 2010. "We have reached an important milestone" Marc-Stefan Brodbeck, in charge of Human Resources Marketing and Recruiting at Deutsche Telekom, was happy to report. "Ultimately the talent pool is shrinking while the shortfall in trained staff gets bigger all the time." Anyone looking to attract promising junior staff in future is going to have to build up a positive employer image. "Our excellent standing in the field of computer science is an incentive for us to do even better among students from other disciplines." The company has also made up ground especially among economics/business administration students compared with last year: Deutsche Telekom is ranked 65, moving 14 places up the standings. However, Deutsche Telekom saw its ranking fall four places among the engineers. "The kind of career opportunities on offer in a multinational group like ours is something not all university students are aware of. So it's our obligation to ensure students are fully aware of the Group and its wide-ranging job opportunities."
The ideal employer for engineers and economic science/business administration students is Audi, computer scientists go for Google as their number one choice, while natural scientists dream of a contract with the Max Planck Society. "Outside our sector we are competing with a wide range of extremely attractive employers", Brodbeck is in no doubt. For a large number of young people, attractive products from these companies serve as a powerful magnet, underlining the positive corporate image. And what do these soon-to-be graduates expect from their career? The Universum Student Survey cites the most important career aims as a challenging role, secure employment and a good work-life balance.
The survey findings are motivation enough for Brodbeck to build upon contacts with the universities and students. The Telekom Campus Tour last year or the university conference Technology meets Talents series undoubtedly play a part in the recent achievements. The recruiting team comes with a package packed with good starting prospects for young people: "Our career paths such as Jump in! or Start up! offer university graduates any number of opportunities." The kind of development opportunities the Group offers to young talents can best be experienced during an internship, says Brodbeck. "If you manage to get some experience in the company under your belt early on, then the transition to the world of work will be much easier later on." An overview of current Deutsche Telekom internships can be found in the job search section.
